
Carers Representative – Management Committee Member (Volunteer)
Use your lived experience to help shape services for people affected by acquired brain injury.
Headway South Manchester and Stockport is looking for a Carers Representative to join our Management Committee. We are seeking someone with personal experience of caring for a person with an acquired brain injury who can help ensure that the voices of carers and families are at the heart of everything we do.
As a Committee Member, you will work with other volunteers to provide strategic direction, support good governance, and help develop services that meet the needs of our local community.
What we’re looking for
We welcome applications from people who:
- Have lived experience as a carer, family member, or close supporter of someone with an acquired brain injury.
- Are passionate about improving support for carers and brain injury survivors.
- Can bring empathy, insight, and a willingness to share their perspective.
- Are able to work collaboratively and contribute to discussions and decision-making.
- Share the values and aims of Headway South Manchester and Stockport.
Previous trustee or committee experience is not essential, and a full induction and ongoing support will be provided.
What’s involved?
As our Carers Representative, you would be expected to:
- Join once monthly evening meeting on Teams (1 hr meeting).
- Joining our drop-in rota and providing volunteering support at least once a month to our weekly drop-in 12.30pm -3.30pm at Bridge Hall Community Centre, Stockport SK3 8NR)
- We would like you to learn more about our area of expertise and be committed to our core values, aims and objectives. Acting as an ambassador for Headway South Manchester & Stockport we would expect you to do all you can to raise awareness about the effects of brain injury in order to raise our profile in the area and help maximise Headway South Manchester & Stockport’s huge potential.
